May seem paradoxical, but displays from South Korean tech giants LG and Samsung showcased this week at the CES conference in Las Vegas suggest a transparent TV future
LG employs OLED technology for ultra-thin panels that offer vibrant colours and deep blacks.
The LG Signature OLED T, set to be released in the second half of this year, is a 77-inch OLED display that can be viewed in transparent and opaque modes.
Samsung uses tiny LEDs, which are created from non-organic materials and, like OLED, do not need built-in illumination to provide an impressive picture.
Samsung showcased their transparent Micro LED displays, which have a crystal-clear, glass-like appearance.
However, no information regarding the timing or pricing of when these displays will be available for purchase was provided.
